Ontario craft ciders take over Toronto bars for one week only
(Toronto, ON – May 21, 2015) The Ontario Craft Cider Association (OCCA) has announced the details for its second annual Ontario Cider Week, taking place from May 30 – June 6 in Toronto. Ontario Cider Week 2015 will feature over 50 different ciders from 20 of Ontario’s finest cider producers at nine Toronto locations, including a nighttime cider cruise on Lake Ontario.
“Ontario Cider Week is a great opportunity to educate consumers on what Ontario has to offer in regards to craft cider. It gives people a chance to taste the quality and uniqueness of Ontario apples and to go beyond expectations with rare, specialty ciders that are not available at the LCBO,” said Tom Wilson, OCCA Chair. “Cider continues to experience tremendous growth in Ontario and consumers will get the chance to see beyond imported, mass produced products. This is one week to showcase unique craft ciders to the city for a great cider experience.”
The event has expanded since its first year with new cideries participating and many new ciders to choose from. Participating venues will showcase a variety of different cider styles from 20 local producers. Cider will be served on tap, in bottles and in casks, with varieties ranging from dry to sweet and from funky to balanced.
The cider producers include: Spirit Tree Estate Cidery, Pommies Cider Co., Sunnybrook Farm Estate Winery, Thornbury Premium Apple Cider, The Puddicombe Cider Company, Coffin Ridge Boutique Winery, Beaver Valley Cider, Revel Cider Co., West Avenue Cider, Empire Cider, The County Cider Company, Twin Pines Orchards & Cider House, Brickworks Ciderhouse, Shiny Apple Cider and KW Craft Cider.
